Best Practices Insurance Services, LLC (BPIS) is focused on identifying opportunities to reduce medico-legal risk by collecting and analyzing appropriate data and providing programs to achieve measurable results. BPIS supplements standard actuarial practice by determining specific risk relativities within a given population so the initiatives that we create may be directed to those areas with the greatest potential return. Our targeted risk reduction initiatives are achieved through a process termed PILAR (Process to Identify Liability and Avoid Risks), which consists of (click on a title for more information):
Comprised of the Chief Medical Officer, Specialty Medical Directors and a five member Medical Advisory Panel. These experts are involved in risk identification and evaluation, selection and mitigation strategies.
For each medical specialty, a set of risk factors have been identified and weighted. Individual risks are compared to the overall physician population and physician insurability (with AMS RRG) is based on this criteria. MedPASS SurveyTM categories include multiple factors including documentation, environment of care, regulatory compliance, follow up processes and risk tools utilized in the practice.
In order to evaluate a physician's practice, BPIS collects and analyzes specialty specific risk management evaluations, nursing and ancillary services risk evaluation tools and dissatisfaction indices. By assessing both clinical and personal aspects of physician behavior, BPIS is better able to understand the liability risk of a particular physicians practice and the likelihood of a potentially indefensible lawsuit.
Physicians can keep to date with the latest information and available resources through our website.
